Healing through reclaiming

By

Some time ago, someone shared with me the wonderful music of Alanah Sabatini, specifically her reclaiming of hymn tunes by rewriting them with empowering and uplifting humanist words.

I actually only knew one or two of the tunes (she was obviously involved in a different church tradition), but the words are really excellent and the feelings she describes are very widespread.

I am a source of light and peace, It flows from my humanity…

… for example.

You can listen to the songs on YouTube, and she has released an EP on Bandcamp, Hymns Reclaimed: Songs for Former Church Kids.

I like the style of her music. And there’s a wonderful song at the end of the playlist called I LOVE MY CAT.

I had actually forgotten that I had posted about this before but it looks like there are more songs than the ones I listed in my previous post about this.
